Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how MetaCard (“MetaCard,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website, applications, and card services (the “Services”). MetaCard is built for self-custody, which means your private keys and on-chain assets remain under your control at all times.
Information we collect
We aim to collect the minimum information necessary to operate a compliant card program:
- Account information — an email address or wallet address used to create and secure your account.
- Verification data — where required by card-network or regulatory rules, identity details processed by our regulated issuing partners.
- Transaction metadata — card authorizations, merchant names, and amounts needed to operate the card and prevent fraud.
- Technical data — device, browser, and usage information collected to keep the Services secure.
How we use information
We use information to provide and improve the Services, issue and settle card transactions, detect and prevent fraud, comply with legal obligations, and communicate with you about your account. We do not sell your personal information.
Self-custody & on-chain data
MetaCard never holds your private keys. Transactions you sign are recorded on public blockchains, which are outside our control and may be permanently visible. Please consider this before transacting.
Sharing
We share information only with: regulated issuing and payment partners that operate the card program; service providers bound by confidentiality obligations; and authorities where required by law. Each partner is permitted to use the data only for the purposes we specify.
Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and thereafter only as required to meet legal, tax, and regulatory obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymized.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, port, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact privacy@metacard.example.
Security
We apply administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, and you are responsible for safeguarding your wallet credentials and recovery phrases.
Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
